Winter activities A free skibus stops outside the 4 Saisons complex and drops off at the base of the fast cable car at Oz Station, giving immediate access to 235 km of pistes within the Grande Rousses ski domain centred around Alpe d’Huez, which extends to a height of 3330 metres (Pic Blanc) and has guaranteed snow during the winter season. See our links section for more details. There is also a cross-country ski club in Allemont. The “ski
de fond” office is in the centre and there are routes around
the village and valley. |

Summer
activities Summer skiing is available slightly further afield at Les Deux Alpes, on the largest skiable glacier in Europe. The Écrins national park, the largest in France, is on your doorstep where you will find 670,000 acres of spectacular hiking among more than 100 peaks. The nearest official gate and reception centre is at Bourg d’Oisans ( 04 76 80 00 51). Culture vultures will appreciate the mountain festivals and the rich regional history (the nearby Château de Vizille was the birthplace of the French Revolution) to name just a few. Grenoble is the nearest city to Allemont and boasts a variety of attractions for visitors. Encircled by peaks, there are several activities and walks one can do to enjoy the scenery. You could climb the Bastille Cliff, take a ride on the cable car or embark on one of four themed cycle routes (the city itself is actually the flattest in France!). For history lovers and “foodies”, the centre won’t disappoint. Detailed information is in the apartment. |
