| Our apartment in Allemont
is conveniently located about 40 km from Grenoble in the valley below the
popular Alpe d’Huez ski domain, in the French Alps. Allemont is easily accessible by car from airports at Lyon (1½ hrs), Grenoble (50 mins) or Geneva (2½ hrs). There are transfer buses from the airports during the winter season. The drive from Calais takes about 10 hours. The apartment is located within a quiet residential complex with great views of the mountains. Within walking distance are several small bars and hotels, a campsite, doctor’s surgery, pharmacy, cash machine, supermarket, takeaway pizza and tourist information office. For a greater variety of nightlife and shopping, Bourg d’Oisans is a 10 minute drive away. The area has a strong sporting orientation, and the village has a large open air swimming pool complex which opens in the Summer. There is a lake nearby and numerous walking and cycling trails. Local buses serve the area well and provide regular access to the villages of Oz and Vaujany, Alpe d’Huez and Grenoble. Check our links section for websites with more details about the area.
